Student Volunteers

Submission deadline: May 26, 2021 (11:59 pm PST)

The IEEE World Haptics Conference (WHC) is the premier international conference covering various aspects of haptics, including scientific findings, technological developments, and applications. WHC is a joint gathering of IEEE Haptics Symposium and Eurohaptics Conference which takes place in alternate years and rotates among North America, Europe and Asia. The conference is a vibrant environment for sharing the most up-to-date research advancements in the field of haptics, leading to new collaborations, fruitful scientific discussions, engagement of young researchers, and charting the future role of haptic technology in enhancing human life.

WHC 2021 will be held as an online virtual conference due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference will use various virtualization tools to offer an exciting interactive program including cross-cutting challenge sessions, technical paper oral and poster sessions, work-in-progress sessions, demonstrations, industrial exhibits, workshops/tutorials, and other technical and social activities.

The Student Volunteer team is a core part of the WHC that keeps the conference organized and running smoothly, delivering the best experience for attendees and speakers.

We are in the process of recruiting a team of reliable and enthusiastic student volunteers who will help us host and manage a successful, productive, and enjoyable conference. The student volunteer program is a great opportunity for young researchers to familiarize themselves with state-of-the-art haptics research. It also allows enthusiastic students to establish and expand their network with the most relevant members of the academy, professionals, and other scholars in the field.

This unique experience is exclusive for undergraduate and graduate students, who are enrolled in the academic year 2020-2021. Students who are graduating at the time of the conference are also welcome to apply.

Accepted students will be expected to attend an orientation session in the last week of June. During the conference your tasks will include:
▪ Assisting moderators during presentation sessions
▪ Assisting with registration
▪ Verifying content uploads to the conference platform
▪ Moderating social gatherings

Consequently, you must be available until the end of the conference, i.e. until Friday (July 9th). Throughout these five days, you will have around 20 hours of work. This should give you plenty of free time to meet with other visitors and attend various activities throughout the conference.
